Santhigiri Ashram - Kumili Branch

The Santhigiri Ashram, Kumili Branch is located at Amaravathi, Kumili, in Idukki district, close to the world-famous Thekkady wildlife sanctuary. Guru came to Amaravathi for the first time on 18th October, 1976, accepting the invitation of local devotees. Prayers were started at the Santhigiri Ashram, Kumili Branch on 17th August, 1977. It is noteworthy that members of all communities participated in the construction of the Kumili Ashram. A lamp was lit in the new prayer hall on 18th October, 1978.
‘Anandam Women’s Charitable Society’, attached to this Ashram, produces coir and coir products, providing employment and income to several local women. The Coir Welfare Board has approved this society as an approved training centre for coir and coir products manufacturing. ‘Govindam Handloom Enterprise’ functioning under this Ashram produces power loom ‘dhotis’ and towels.
Coffee and Cardamom are planted on two acres of land near the Ashram.
The Santhigiri Hospital at Kumili offers an integrated system of treatment.
